In 2001, Lindas daughter, Erin, hiked the entire 2,160 miles of the Appalachian Trail. Her students interest in Erins hike inspired Linda to write a young adult fictional novel about a teens adventure on the Appalachian Trail. Erin, whose trail name is Teatree, became Cinnamon in Lindas novel. Her story is about the colorful characters, everyday struggles and inner conflict one experiences while trekking through 14 states from Georgia to Maine. This hike includes the horrific events of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and how, even on the isolated trail, worldwide events affect the hikers.
